Paul Kimotho Paul Kibera Kimotho from an early age had had an intense interest in art. He recalls that at age six he would often spend hours each day drawing figures of humans or animals in the dusty soil of his home. One could truthfully say that his style and appreciation of art was cultured in the African soil. It was not until his 6th year in primary school that he had the opportunity to receive limited formal training in sculpting and painting. In 1977 an event was to take place which would offer Paul tremendous opportunity to each his goal of beocoming a noted artist in hos native land of Kenya and eventually the world His family moved from his home of birth, Kiambu District to the scneic Rift Valley, the home of the world renowned Maasai and abundant wildlife. At this time he also joined Langata High School where he continued to focus his energies on developing his art skills. The school, however, did not place great emphasis on the subject. In his own words, "I was determined to pursue my love for art which meant taking additional classes in art from private tutors." Upon completion of high school he joined the Creative Arts Center and specialized in landscape, wildlife, and portrait art. Over the last decade he has worked diligently as a professional artist. His desire is for the world to take notice of himself and his compatriots who are African, incredibly gifted, and well-seasoned African wildlife artists. Paul is currently a highly visible artist in Kenya and is now extending his work to the US and beyond. Paul has had numerous exhibitions in Kenya. 16 December 2005 - We welcome Paul Kimotho as a new artist on Inside African Art!
