Artz
Gallery in Nairobi, Kenya - The Inside African Art Partner
Artz Gallery is located
at the Village Market in Gigiri, the area of Nairobi where the US Embassy and the
United Nations offices are located. Established in 1991, and known as Unik Frames and Crafts Ltd., it found its success in the promotion and exposure of the incredible amount of talented
artists in East Africa.
As you can see by these photos, the
gallery is stacked high with original African paintings. Top to bottom and wall
to wall, Artz Gallery is literally overflowing with paintings, showcasing some of
East
Africa's most important and celebrated artists. Prices range from a $1 batik
card and envelope, to $3,000 paintings - though most paintings are from $50 to
$400. It's hard to walk out of Artz Gallery without either the satisfaction of a
purchase, or a new confidence in narrowing-down the type of art that's right for
you.
 Learning
about African art is a process. One has to be exposed to it, become acquainted
with it's unique qualities, and then focus on which of these qualities are
suited to your individual preference. This can take some time! Relax, look
around, peruse other galleries...get as much input as you can. And when you are
ready, Zahir Safdarali and his staff, Grace and Wickliff, will be happy to
assist you.
Stop by if you're in town and let us show you around! The team of Zahir, based in Nairobi,
Todd Schaffer (at right you can see both of us), based in both Nairobi and the USA,
and Gathinja, based in New York - will make sure that you are comfortable with your knowledge of
African art, and when the time is right, that you are satisfied with your purchase!
An excellent selection of these
paintings can be seen on the Original African
Paintings pages on this website.
Hope you enjoy the website!
