KARICHEN PRIMARY
SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

Food Drive Distribution -
Huge Success -
Thanks to you!

I want to thank everyone who contributed to our food drive - it was a huge success.
From miles around many hundreds of people came and took home food for their family - the three distributions lasted those who were suffering many months.

With the arrival of the rains, we have declared our efforts in assisting the people of the Kieni District in Kenya a success.

NOW! On to another project!
The Karichen Primary School Construction Project!

Back to IAA Homepage

The Karichen Primary School was one of the locations that we held a food distribution as we were aiming for the children and the parent in this vicinity. My wife, Liz's parents also noticed the condition of the school, as well as Edith, Liz's sister, who is a teacher at the school. It became obvious that in order for these kids to learn, a proper environment had to be provided - and at this time all that they have is a dirt-floored, leaky roof, wooden shack - not secure and not protective.

What they need for construction is primarily stones, cement, an engineer and site manager, and labor. That's all!

Fortunately, Liz's father, a retired engineer for Kenya Breweries, is available to oversee the project. Our job is to provide the funds to purchase stones and cement - the deliver of these products, and then the workforce to construct the building. It is estimated that this will cost between $5-7,000 - Not Much!

Karichen Primary School - One of the beneficiaries of your generosity.
The name is an abstraction of 'Carrying Station' - a place where the train stopped. Notice how dusty dry it is.
Liz's mother, Jane, and the Head Teacher of Karichen Primary School. Liz's niece Edith's class. She's a teacher in this school. Distributing food to the kids.
The kids eating lunch. Liz's father, Kabua, counting the bags of corn meal. Corn meal is the basic food in Kenya, and enjoyed as a dish called Ugali. Patient villagers queuing up as they wait for more villagers to arrive. This was farm land - now it is dust.

Your continued support in this project is greatly appreciated! Thank you - Liz

Please Contribute to our cause. 100% of the money received will be used in constructing the Karichen Primary School in Kieni District, Kenya.
